IN PURSUIT OF HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES

MANILA, Philippines -- Today, there are a lot of products and services that offer benefits and even claims to do almost everything. But, there are just a handful of truths and even efficacies among all these claims and benefits.
In totality, wellness is a state of well-being where one’s physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social, and vocational areas are all balanced and in harmony. Is this possible at all?
Mr. Webster, on one hand simply defines wellness as a “physical state of being free from any disease."
The reality is, we can never be free from any disease, but we can actually adopt a lifestyle, and a regimen of healthy diet and excercise to make it possible for us or for anyone to actively pursue a better and more meaningful lifestyle.
Nutriwell International Corporation is one of the very few nutraceutical companies which develops formulations and food supplements that underscore the true meaning and value of wellness. Their products and formulations, as with many testimonials, clinical studies and references, literatures and plain but simple statements attest to offer promising and positive results from different market profiles: patients, mothers, moderately-ill to even acute cases, and even healthy and active individuals.
One of the flagship products of Nutriwell International Corporation is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory nutrient called Oleia® Softgels. Oleia Softgel is an anti-inflammatory nutrient that contains Cetylated Fatty Acid (CFA or cetyl myristoleate), a natural substance, which helps those who are suffering from chronic degenerative diseases and auto-immune disorders associated with deficiency in Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs).

The magic of CFA
Cetyl Myristoleate is an ester of fatty acid. Fatty acids are the individual components of oils in the same way that amino acids are the building block of proteins. Polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as linolenic acid and linoleic, are crucial to life and are called EFAs. Research shows that cetylmyristoleate appears to have the same beneficial characteristics as the EFAs. However, it is stronger and the benefits are longer lasting. EFAs are essential to normal cell structure, physiological processes, body function, and serve as components to nerve cells and cell membranes. EFAs are depleted in chronic inflammatory diseases and their deficiency is associated withy many autoimmune diseases. EFAs when used over an extended period of time, have been shown to decrease pain, inflammation, and motion limitations of arthritis.
Angie Masilang, a bio-chemist and formulator for Nutriwell International Corporation says Cetyl Myristoleate functions in three ways:
It functions like an essential fatty acid that is needed to promote healthy cells, membranes and bodily functions and processes.
It serves as a surfactant (like WD-40) as it lubricates joints and the entire human body, making muscles glide more smoothly over other muscles, bursae, and bones, plus it also softens these tissues making them more pliable.
It also functions as an immune system modulator. This is the reason it has been found to be so effective in addressing auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and multiple sclerosis.
She adds, “Cetyl Myristoleate, which is primarily Cetylated Fatty Acid, improves mobility in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee, thus, may be a safer alternative to the use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) which is normally used to treat osteoarthritis.”

Analgesic applications

“There are also sufficient if not abundant studies and cases in the U.S. where Cetyl Myristoleate has shown significant benefits and positive results in the prevention of arthritic episodes. It also effectively reduced moderate inflammatory pain levels in a variety of joint and muscle diseases, as well as reduction in disabilities related to migraine headaches, psoriasis. In a sense, Cetyl Myristoleate may be well regarded as a supplement that has a broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory and analgesic applications.
Cetyl Myristoleate is also bio-available, it is 100 percent absorbed in the intestinal mucosa, if given orally, or when applied topically. It is readily absorbed because of its transdermal efficiency,” Masilang concludes.

A new hope in pain management
By Mark Christian Lagarile  December 20, 2010

MANILA, Philippines - Pain is the Latin word for penance or punishment and because of man’s desire to live pain-free, the use of   synthetic painkiller drugs has become very popular. Driven by her ardent desire to find a pain reliever without its usual side effects for her mother who was suffering from the excruciating pains of swollen knee joints due to rheumatoid arthritis,Dr. Myrna Cuerdo embarked on a journey to find an alternative cure.
In an interview, Cuerdo said it was ''Divine'' intervention that caused her as a doctor of psychiatry to totally change her outlook in life and her patients’ lives as well when she found out about Oleia two months ago.
Cuerdo started her medical practice in 1988, specializing in integrative medicine and naturopathy and is currently holding her clinic at the St. Martin’s Outreach Center in Quezon City. She was amazed to learn that it was possible for a drug-free product like Oleia to instantly relieve pains. Convinced of its curative effect,Cuerdo now prescribe it to her patients over the synthetic NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like paracetamol and ibuprofen.
She was introduced to Oleia in an event led by the Philippine Convention on Alternative Medicine   where she bought the 650mg Oleia softgel capsules for her mother, who was then bedridden.
The result was amazing, according to Cuerdo, when she saw her mother walking   even   faster than her usual gait. Thus, she realized that Oleia was true, so she went to its office in Ortigas, where she got discounts after registering as an independent distributor.
Cuerdo has also proven Oleia to be effective with a number of testimonials from her patients who were afflicted with chronic depression, schizophrenia, and other mental-psychological disorders.
Oleia, which name was coined after Oleic Acid or Omega 9 fatty acid, is the brainchild of noted biochemist Angie Masilang, VP and COO of Nutriwell International Corp., a Filipino-owned manufacturer of high quality anti-inflammatory health and wellness products since December 2007.
Her patented formulation of essential fatty acids, which is a Filipino ingenuity, has perfectly triggered a synergy of balance that enables cetylated fatty acid, a major anti-inflammatory component of Oleia, to effectively work with Omega 3 and Omega 9 as well as cetylated myristoleic acid (Omega 5) creating the first-ever all-natural, safe, and fast-acting anti-inflammatory and anti-pain remedy to a host of different kinds of ailments today.
It has been evidently effective to people suffering from muscle pains, lower back pains, frozen shoulders, toothache, stomachache, headache, insect bites, hypertension, goiter, psoriasis, arthritis, prostate and pancreatic cancers. It can likewise help inflammatory conditions like osteoarthritis, multiple sclerosis, rheumatism, gouty arthritis, tendonitis, sinusitis, tennis-golfer’s elbow, fibromyalgia, wrist pain, asthma, gastritis, emphysema, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons Disease, migraine, and stroke paralysis.
People in high-impact sports like badminton, tennis and basketball, which are strongly associated with injury, will also highly benefit from this product. Oleia is also in oil form, which has been referred to as “joint lubricant”.
BFAD-approved and clinically-tested, Oleia wellness products are available in softgel capsules of 500mg (30’s bottle) and 650mg (20s bottle) and likewise in the 50 ml and 100 ml bottles of organically-scented Oleia Cetylated Oil for topical use.
